Should the US end the nuclear test ban treaty?

Most currant US nuke were manufactured between 1979 and 1989. Earlier tests on shelf life of w52's 1 and 2's were shorty term and proved to be duds. We not use the LEP (life extenstion program) that is untested replacement of key componants. With the physics needed to ensure a reliable chain reaction so exacting are we in effect dropping the ball ?
