I am looking for a book called 'Dragon,' I think - help?

When I was a teenager I read a book that had a Dragon on the cover and it was about a photographer that went to take photos of mesas and ended up visiting with a friend who discovered unground caverns full of bones... Anyone know if the name of this book is Dragon and who the author is? Would love to read it again...
