Should the citizens of upstate NY seperate from downstate NY and create their own state?

There has always been a rift in the upstate/downstate relationship. Now a company called NYRI wants to build a powerline through populated areas of upstate NY so that the NYC area can have cheaper and more energy. They admit that this will raise the price of electric bills for the very people they want to displace from their homes in upstate NY as well as all others. Further they want to build this line through the middle of cities and towns destroying the upstate area.
