I'm confused. Is he a nice person or not?

This guy i used to hate freshman year of college was a drunkard frat boy player type. Yet, I got to know him better and saw the "good" side in him (the one he often tries to hide). I ended up crushing on him, yet got the vibe he didn't like me back. He tutored me in math and we had lots in common and he was nice, but never pursued me nor touched or flirted wiht me like he did the other girls. Anyway, sopre year I look hot (make over and more confidence over th esummer) and now I notice him staring at me A LOT. We don't talk, but he always tries to say hi. I was at an all night event that he helped organized and we talked for a bit. He came over to sit by my friend and I to chat as we ate! Yet, he has this air about him like he's too good for any body and doesn't like to be told what to do (even in jest). My friend noticed it too. He's an azz. He's not the friendly, smile type (or is that a "guy thing" haha) Is his eye contact/staring at me when he sees me and saying hi HIS WAY of being "nice"???
