Can a bench warrant be vacated after an arrest?

If someone is in custody in county jail on a bench warrant from his PO, is a hearing the only way out? Is it ever possible to be let out without having a hearing? Can a PO lift the warrant after the arrest already took place? This is day 3 of custody. No hearing has been scheduled yet.
